‘@Shinjyuku Otori Festival in Tokyo

On 11/9, the Tourism-Business class visited the Shinjuku Otori Festival as a social visit. Here is the report written by Ms. Ise, the class teacher!

@@In autumn 2005, the Tourism-Business class had 7 students (Hong-Kong: 5, Korea: 1, Ukraine: 1). The class does not have many students so it almost seems like a family. Every day, we learn how to make conversations about tourism, study Japanese sightseeing places, and study Japanese societies using textbooks. Sometimes we have to talk about the latest news and do speeches, so there are many tasks. Every term has such events as social visits about 2 or 3 times (for example, seeing a traditional Japanese festival and other sightseeing places).
@Today, we visited the Shinjuku-ku Hanazono-shrine to see "Tori-no-ichi" as a social visit (11/9). Before the social visit, we made 3 groups. One group had to do a research on "Tori-no-ichi," another group on the "Hanazono-shrine,h and the third on "nearby sightseeing spots."

"Tori-no-ichi" is one of the traditional Japanese festivals. It is the last festival of the year because it is held in November. So many Japanese people feel it is the end of the year when "Tori-no-ichi" opens.

@In the Hanazono-shrine, we saw a lot of small shops. We experienced many traditional Japanese things.

‘@Kids Soccer Heavenr@

Our students participated in "Kids Soccer Heaven" as volunteers. Here are their reports!

Ÿ@This time, I participated as a Japanese volunteer for the first time. I was happy and wanted to join next time. When I saw the information for the kids soccer, I wasn't interested in it. But my friend invited me so I had to go there...
@At first, I was a little nervous. But after a few minutes passed, I was able to enjoy playing soccer with the children. I had a good time.

Ÿ@I didn't apply to join soccer. But (I don't know why) the flyer of the event came to me, so I was surprised. I thought "Maybe, this is a mistake of the staff members at the office."@But, in the end I had a good experience.
@It is too difficult to communicate with children using Japanese. The experience is exciting for me.
@I thought it was very good to play soccer and other games with Japanese children and their parents in the morning.

@It was a rare chance for students, so I think lots of students should participate next time.

Ÿ@The event was more interesting than I thought. In the morning, I lost my way to go to the field. So I was in a little bit of trouble.

@On the field, I played with the children and had lunch with their mothers. I had a good time. So next time, I want to join another volunteer work similar to this one.
