Application Information

SNG welcomes those who wish to apply for a student visa as well as those who already have their own visa. Application procedure differs depending upon your visa and the course of your choice . Please click the buttons below to see the details of each application process.

A college student visa is issued to those who wish to study at Japanese universities or equivalent educational institutions such as Japanese language schools and vocational schools. Students who hold the college student visa are permitted to stay in Japan for either 1 year or 2 years (excluding the departure grace period of 3 months). You can apply for a college student visa through our school.

※ The maximum period of stay in Japan for studying at a Japanese language school is 2 years.
※ We accept applications from 6 months before the month of admission.

Students are required to enroll in the National Health Insurance policy, but this fee is paid directly to the government of the city, ward, or town of residence.
Student health insurance (through the Japanese Language Institute Co-operation) provides coverage from the 1st of the starting month to the last day of the final month of study. (Ex. For a student studying from April 5th to March 16th of the next year, coverage will begin April 1st and continue until March 31st of the next year.)
Study materials and field trip costs are not included in the above prices.

Please note that you need to fill out separate forms in order to apply to our school (see the Application Guide for more details). You can receive the forms from our overseas offices.
If you are:
・ applicants from countries with no regional office or
・ those who have a family member residing in Japan, please contact directly to the Tokyo main office.
Once you have been admitted, SNG will send an application to the immigration office on your behalf in order to obtain a college student visa.
Application Procedure for a College Student Visa 1. Contact our overseas office in your country or the Tokyo main office. 2. Prepare the necessary documents and submit together with the application form to the overseas office or the Tokyo main office (if you submit the documents to the overseas offices, they will be sent to the Tokyo main office for examination). 3. After examining your application, the office will apply for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to the Japanese immigration bureau on behalf of you. 4. We will send you the COE once it is issued. 5. Go to a nearest Japanese embassy for an interview to obtain a visa. Make sure to take the certificate and necessary documents with you. |

These are the standard application requirements. Depending on the country and individual, additional documents may be required. For details, please check the Application Guide.

The application procedure is quite simple for those who have their own visa (such as short-term visas, working holiday visas, etc.) and those who already reside in Japan with proper visa status. Please bring your application form and the necessary documents to the Tokyo main office before your choice of term begins.

Short-term visa
A short-term visa is issued to those who wish to stay in Japan up to 90 days for the purpose of tourism, business, visiting friends or relatives , etc. that does not include paid activities . For some nationalities this visa is not required.
Other visas
Other visas include family -stays visas, working holidays visas, spouse visas, etc. The application procedure is very simple if you have your own visas such as above.

Please consult the Tokyo main office if you have problems regarding the payment of your tuition fee.

This course is designed for students who work or study full-time during the week and can only commit their weekends to language study. This course has become popular not only among residents of Tokyo, but among students in surrounding areas as well. You can have a free-trial lesson and start the course at any time.

A course for students who already hold a visa to study as they wish.
Especially designed for students who work or study full-time during the day. It runs twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. You can have a free-trial lesson and start the course at any time.

This course is perfect for students whose work schedules do not allow them to enroll in the daily or evening courses, or for students who wish to study individually. The course schedule and class content can be adjusted to the needs of individual students.

A short course to introduce students to Japan and Japanese culture while studying the Japanese language. Stay in Tokyo, take language lessons every weekday morning, and take afternoon excursions two to three times a week. Multiple housing options are available to suit your needs.
