Principal's greetings

Ezoe Educational Foundation Chairman of the Board Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute President
Takahide Ezoe
In 1975, I assisted Takayoshi and Setsuko Ezoe as they took the lead in founding Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute. At that time, the situation was a far cry from the present day. It was difficult to obtain Chinese and Korean passports, and not many students came to study abroad. While some universities offered Japanese courses, they were few in number.
Therefore, Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute was compelled to develop its own original curriculum and teaching methods. As a result, we discovered a new way of comprehending Japanese grammar: Japanese is comprised of an “information” part and a “predicate” part with two lines of particles between the two. This grammar structure is known as the Ezoe Method. It is being used not just for teaching Japanese to non-native speakers, but is also being experimentally introduced to Japanese special schools and some public junior high schools.
As we continue to develop and improve our grammar system and original instruction materials, we strongly believe that we can contribute to the world of Japanese language education.
At present, a large number of students enroll to study Japanese
with this teaching method. From the bottom of our heart, we hope
that through this method, we can reach out to thousands of
international students.
