■ News on academic achievements!

A number of SNG students are progressing to higher education.

For Japanese high school students,February is the month of higher education entrance exams. However, international students begin taking entrance exams in October of the previous year. It starts with private universities, then professional schools and public universities after the New Year.

In addition to the entrance exams, international students need to take the Examination for Japanese University admission for International Students (EJU) in November and Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) in December. Some also need to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). October to December, therefore, it is the busiest time of the year for the international students.

Some of our students are still waiting for the results of their entrance exams. However, I would like to list a number of universities and professional school to which students have been accepted.

■ Kimono-wearing experience for the teacher training class!

At Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute, we offer a teacher training course for those international students who wish to learn the “Ezoe method” of teaching Japanese. In this course, we teach not only the method of instruction, but also introduce the beauty of the Japanese culture. In January 2010, students learned how to wear a kimono. Thank you to those who participated, and please enjoy the pictures below!
