Summer course closing ceremony

July 30 marked the end of our Summer Course, the annual month-long program that combines Japanese language learning in the morning with cultural activities and excursions in the afternoon.

This year, students had the chance to explore iconic neighborhoods of Tokyo, take day trips to Kamakura and Nikko, enjoy a cruise in Tokyo Bay, all while beginning or deepening their Japanese language skills.

On the final day, each student prepared a short speech in Japanese, using what they had learned throughout the course. Some talked about their favorite visits, others shared what they loved most about Japan, and some reflected on the differences between Tokyo and their hometowns. All of them expressed gratitude to their teachers and appreciation for the memories shared with their classmates.

The closing ceremony began with the presentation of certificates: students completed 60 hours of Japanese lessons during the course. The school director gave a short speech, congratulating them and encouraging everyone to pursue their personal goals. Many students expressed a desire to return to Japan in the future—whether for travel, further studies, or professional projects. Certificates were then handed out one by one, in the traditional Japanese style: with both hands and a respectful bow.

To celebrate the end of the course, students and staff enjoyed a festive meal at a restaurant near Takadanobaba Station. With barbecue meats, sushi, ramen, and fried dishes, the buffet offered something for everyone in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere.

And finally, it was time to say goodbye… or at least, for now! Some students headed out for a last outing together, while others prepared to return home or continue their travels across Japan.

A big thank you to all the students and staff for a summer full of learning, laughter, and wonderful memories. See you next year!
